It has provided CMS with a new mechanism for detecting improper payments in the past available to the CMS and also has a valuable new means for the prevention of future payments.
The goal of the recovery audit program is to improper payments on claims of health services for Medicare Beneficiaries vesting and responding. Improper payments can overpayments or underpayments.
